Finished Wall Construction

Today started out raining and overcast, but it ended up being a milestone on the project.  Though a flooded yard, we were able to finish construction on the West Wall.  This means that all the walls have been constructed and all that is left to do is raise them and set them in place before we can move on to the roof of the house!

The weather ended up being a blessing in disguise because it was overcast for much of the day, making it a bit cooler than it had been all week.  Chicago has had some really bad weather lately between a sweltering heat wave, followed directly by record breaking storms.  I am just glad we were able to work on the house and get this final wall built despite much of our building area having standing water.

There are a few pictures, although they don’t show very much besides piles of walls.

That’s really about all I have to show or talk about today.  I am hoping to raise the walls this week so that I can start the roof next weekend as originally planned.

You didn’t even say that your mom ran the saw today?!? Kie, I am crushed!

Sorry, but you have some free advertising in the background of the picture so it all works out.

You’re making great progress. Can’t wait to see more photos. To put things in perspective, it has been just over two years since we raised the walls for our tiny house and we’re still not quite done with it. Putting it on a trailer rather than a foundation like we did gives you a lot more freedom to build.

    Great Work!
